How are you holding up after Easter weekend? Odds are you’re pretty tired. Whether your church just had one service or five, you had a lot to plan, a lot of places to be, and a lot of people calling on you.

But as a church leader this isn’t anything new to you. You are always pouring into others to encourage and speak life to them. So what happens when you, the encourager, needs to be encouraged?

Earlier this week on the SecureGive blog, Tim Gilligan shared a few ways that church leaders can renew and refresh themselves (link here). And one of those ways is through Scripture.

Scripture itself is lined with encouragement. A place where God Himself can encourage us through His Word. So, to help refill your cup after a busy Easter season (or really anytime you need courage or comfort), here are 15 Bible verses meant to give you strength, comfort, but most of all encouragement.

The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him.” – Exodus 15:2

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”Deuteronomy 31:6

“In peace I will lie down and sleep; for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”Psalms 4:8

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me besides still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”Psalm 21:1-3

“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.”Psalm 59:16

“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him.”Psalms 62:5

“You are my place of quiet retreat; I wait for Your Word to renew me.”Psalm 119:114

“A generous person will prosper, whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”Proverbs 11:25

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”Isaiah 40:28-31

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”Isaiah 41:10

“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.”Jeremiah 31:25

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”Matthew 11:28-29

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”John 16:33

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”Galatians 6:9

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.”1 Peter 5:6-7
